Thanks to the digital age, we have the ability to change language overnight.
The Channel4 comedy programme The Last Leg has proposed renaming the offense of upskirting as choping.
For those who don't know:
Upskirting is a term used to describe the act of taking a photograph up someone's skirt without their permission. The sexually invasive act was set to be made a criminal offence in parliament this week, following a campaign launched by upskirting victim Gina Martin. - Indipendent
Only, when it went before parliament, a single Tory MP called Christopher Chope blocked it. You can read about what happened here.
Hence the drive to rename upskirting, choping. As in: "Look at that dirty little choper. If I catch him choping round here again, I'll chope him where the sun don't shine."
As the programme points out, to enter the English language a word needs to be in common use. So, get using it as often as you can, and join the hashtag #choping on Twitter.
